On September 3rd, 2025, the CA22110 LIAISE COST Action – WG1 meeting brought together our community in person at HTW Berlin (Germany), with around twenty participants joining both on site and online.
The day proved to be inspiring and highly productive. Participants had the opportunity to explore concrete German experiences in Industrial Symbiosis (IS) through the insightful presentations of Pablo Arauzo (University of Hohenheim), who introduced the SUM4Re project on digital material banks in construction, and Christian Grunewald (German DIN Institute), who presented the RISERS project and its work on supporting industrial symbiosis through standardisation. Their contributions set the tone for the day, offering practical examples and stimulating reflections on how research and innovation can translate into real impact.
Building on this, James Woodcock guided the group through a critical overview of existing IS ICT tools and reviews, opening the floor for debate on how to make the upcoming Deliverable D1.2 innovative, distinct, and impactful. This deliverable focuses on the identification of existing databases and IT tools for monitoring IS streams, and the meeting provided the space for members to engage in detailed discussions on content, methodology, and presentation. By the end of the session, clear agreements were reached on the structure, the selection of platforms, and the timeline to finalize the document in the coming months.
The meeting was not only about technical work. It also allowed participants to reconnect after the summer break, exchange ideas informally, and strengthen professional and personal ties. These moments of dialogue and collaboration are at the heart of COST Actions, enabling us to move forward with renewed energy and a shared vision.
We warmly thank all participants for their active involvement and the lively exchanges that made this meeting so successful. A special thanks goes to our hosts at HTW Berlin for their hospitality and support in creating such a welcoming environment.
Together, as a growing and dynamic community, we continue to build bridges towards a greener and more circular future.
