Last week, members of the LIAISE COST Action Working Groups 1 and 2 convened in Skopje to make significant progress on the joint deliverable D1.4 – Technical and Non-Technical Barriers. This collaborative effort aims to identify key obstacles and develop strategies to address them, ensuring greater impact and innovation in the field.
The meeting brought together experts from diverse backgrounds who shared their insights and expertise to address challenges linked to industrial symbiosis and sustainability. By examining both technical and non-technical barriers, the group is working to provide actionable recommendations that will support industries, policymakers, and researchers in adopting more sustainable practices.
🤝 In addition to advancing D1.4, participants explored joint working strategies to foster further collaboration between the two WGs. Discussions covered opportunities for new research projects, scientific publications, and initiatives to strengthen synergies between members. By leveraging their combined knowledge, WG1 and WG2 aim to unlock innovative solutions that address critical industry challenges.
The second day of the meeting featured engaging contributions from keynote speakers, who provided valuable insights into sustainability, innovation, and industrial symbiosis. Presentations included:
- UKIM Faculty representatives shared insights into their academic contributions and ongoing research.
- Aleksandar Stamboliev from BAU highlighted acceleration programs and EIT initiatives to foster sustainable innovation.
- Representatives from the Catalyst Project presented innovative approaches for circular economy implementation.
- Additional insights were provided by experts from Circ4SusPlast, HOPE Technology, and Kimitisik, showcasing forward-thinking solutions in circular economy and sustainable practices.
The meeting concluded with a discussion on upcoming LIAISE events, calls for participation and other collaborative opportunities for Working Group members. This ensures that momentum continues, with members actively engaged in shaping future initiatives.
By combining expertise and fostering collaboration, WG1 and WG2 are driving forward innovative solutions to address complex challenges in sustainability and industrial symbiosis. The continued progress on deliverable D1.4 will provide a robust framework for overcoming key technical and non-technical barriers, contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.
