Experts Converge in Brussels to Tackle Challenges and Unlock Opportunities in Industrial Symbiosis
On September 10th, 2024, the LIAISE COST Action Working Group 1 brought together experts from across Europe at the Oslo Region European Office in Brussels for the “Industrial Symbiosis from a Technical Perspective: Challenges and Opportunities” workshop. This pivotal event focused on key technological solutions and the challenges faced in implementing Industrial Symbiosis (IS) across industries, aiming to foster collaboration and promote sustainable practices in Europe.
The event featured insightful presentations and discussions on the latest technological solutions, challenges, and opportunities related to Industrial Symbiosis. Participants engaged in a variety of sessions that fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange:
- Technological solutions
- Opportunities, challenges and barriers in implementing Industrial Symbiosis
- What is needed/missing from end-users (industry side) to facilitate (faster) implementation of Industrial Symbiosis
- Resource mapping and matching
These sessions provided participants with cutting-edge insights into the practical applications of IS in real-world industrial settings.
Following a series of engaging presentations and poster sessions, the day concluded with a roundtable discussion on future projects and next steps for advancing IS. The event also recognized outstanding contributions with awards for the best oral presentation and best poster.
