The LIAISE COST Action held its latest in-person meeting in Warsaw (Poland), hosted by Kozminski University, one of Europe’s leading private institutions in business and management education. The event brought together participants from all four Working Groups (WG1–WG4) to review progress, exchange insights, and plan the next steps toward the development of the Industrial Symbiosis KPI Dashboard.
The Warsaw meeting once again demonstrated the strength of the LIAISE network — a vibrant community working together to make Industrial Symbiosis a cornerstone of the European circular economy.
The meeting opened with a warm welcome from the hosts at Kozminski University and from the Action Chair, Almudena Muñoz, who highlighted the importance of cross-group cooperation for the upcoming deliverables.
During the joint sessions, WG3 presented the progress achieved so far in the compilation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assessing the performance of Industrial Symbiosis (IS) systems. Following this, participants discussed how responsibilities would be distributed across dimensions — economic, technical and environmental, and social and cultural — ensuring that each Working Group contributes to the shared framework.
The second part of the meeting featured detailed presentations and debates led by WG1, WG2, and WG4.
- WG1 introduced a Decision-Making Framework for evaluating IS using KPIs, based on multi-criteria analysis methods such as AHP and Balanced Scorecard models.
- WG2 explored the integration of KPIs into stakeholder analysis methodologies, proposing dynamic, data-driven approaches that align with IS network structures.
- WG4 presented the Key Environmental KPIs aligned with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), linking the Action’s work to EU-level sustainability frameworks.
During the final session, all groups reconvened to share results and define a common roadmap for the months ahead. The goal is to produce a first version of the KPI Dashboard by May 2026.
