From 27 to 29th January, COST Action CA22110 LIAISE, in collaboration with COST Action CA22124 ECO4ALL, successfully organised the 2nd Industrial Symbiosis Training School, hosted by the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (Serbia).
The Training School brought together researchers, practitioners and early-career professionals from across Europe for three intensive days of learning, exchange and hands-on experience, with more than 30 participants attending each day. This edition stood out for the strong involvement of ECO4ALL members, who actively participated both as trainers and trainees, further reinforcing synergies between the two COST Actions.
The programme covered the full spectrum of Industrial Symbiosis and Circular Economy, combining theoretical foundations with practical applications:
- Day 1 focused on the basics of Circular Economy and Industrial Symbiosis, addressing key challenges and barriers, and included a hands-on 3D printing session demonstrating an industrial symbiosis case using recycled plastic.
- Day 2 explored value creation through Industrial Symbiosis, with sessions on sustainable consumption strategies, SMEs perspectives, ESG reporting, and interactive group work applying SWOT analysis.
- Day 3 moved from theory to action, guiding participants through case studies, business model development, communication strategies and pitch decks, and concluding with reflections, feedback and next steps.
The Training School provided a dynamic environment for knowledge exchange, networking and capacity building, reinforcing LIAISE’s commitment to supporting collaboration and skills development within the Industrial Symbiosis and Circular Economy communities.
LIAISE warmly thanks all trainers, trainees, speakers and the host partner for their contributions and enthusiasm, as well as ECO4ALL for the fruitful collaboration that made this joint Training School a real success.
