On February 11th, the world celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, recognizing the invaluable contributions of women in STEM and reinforcing the need for gender balance in research and innovation. At LIAISE COST Action, we are proud to contribute to this vision—with 52% of women actively engaged in our network, we are fostering a more diverse and inclusive scientific community.

As part of our commitment to empowering women in science, we hosted an inspiring webinar titled “Empowering Women in Science: Bridging Gaps and Building Futures.” This event brought together pioneering scientists and young researchers to discuss their experiences, achievements, and the challenges women still face in STEM fields.

A Conversation on Inspiration, Innovation and Inclusion

The webinar featured a distinguished lineup of speakers who shared their journeys and insights:

🔬 Ofira Ayalon and Yvonne Ryan – Two accomplished scientists who reflected on their careers, the obstacles they overcame, and their contributions to science and sustainability. Their stories served as an inspiration for young researchers looking to forge their own paths in STEM.

🌍 Giovanna Colucci, Awino Dinah, and Gülsah Keklik – Emerging leaders in research, these young scientists showcased their innovative contributions to sustainability and scientific progress. Their dedication and achievements highlighted the importance of supporting women early in their careers.

💬 Interactive Workshop: “How to Inspire the Next Generation” – Moderated by Sena Das and Almudena Muñoz, this engaging session allowed participants to reflect on ways to encourage and support young women in STEM. Discussions focused on mentorship, policy changes, and the role of education in fostering gender equality in science.

Building a future of possibilities for everyone

Empowering women in science is not just about equality—it’s about unlocking the full potential of innovation and progress for a better future.” 🌍🔬✨

At LIAISE COST Action, we believe that science thrives when diverse perspectives come together. By supporting and amplifying the voices of women in STEM, we are not only bridging the gender gap but also ensuring that the next generation of scientists has the resources and opportunities to excel.

This webinar was an important step in our ongoing mission to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in research and policy-making. However, the conversation doesn’t stop here. We invite you to watch the full webinar and be part of the movement toward a more inclusive scientific community.
