Summary: The industrial symbiosis case study library and linked exchanges database were developed by the Centre for Industrial Sustainability at the University of Cambridge within the Horizon 2020 MAESTRI project. The dataset compiles information on existing industrial symbiosis cases from publicly available sources, including scientific papers, presentations and white papers, which are referenced and organised into categories to make the information easier to access and use. The dataset is structured into two connected sections: a case study library and an exchanges database. The library describes each case through a structured format, including triggering factors, preconditions and barriers, while the exchanges database records the resource flows between companies, including sector classifications, material categories, waste treatment information and details on the use, quantity, payment and completion level of each exchange.
